Why Covius is Section 508 compliant
Covius is one of the few mortgage and real estate industry websites to meet and exceed Section 508 requirements. Section 508 Standards, used as a benchmark both by private sector and government agencies, applies to electronic and information technology procured by the federal government, including computer hardware and software, websites, phone systems, and copiers. They were issued under section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act which requires access for both members of the public and federal employees to such technologies when developed, procured, maintained, or used by federal agencies.

Section 508 essentially requires agencies to provide people with disabilities equal access to electronic information and data comparable to those who do not have disabilities, unless doing so would impose an undue burden on the agency. The Section 508 standards are the technical requirements and criteria used to determine whether the agency is meeting the requirements of this law.
Is it mandatory that Covius meet these criteria? No. Do we believe it imperative to meet and exceed existing industry standards where at all possible? Absolutely. In fact, we’ve gone even further by following WCAG 2.0 guidelines in the creation of mortgagesolutions.covius.com. You can learn more about these here: www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/
